F-106A 59-0120 of the 329th FIS. At 1855, 14 Feb 1961 1st Lt Ernest Biehunko crashed into the topmost peak of a small mountain at 5,412 feet elevation. The center of impact was approx 30 feet below the top of the slope. Almost all of the aircraft carried over the top of the 300 foot, top part of the hill and came to rest scattered about the western (opposite) side of the mountain. 1st Lt Biehunko did not survive the crash and was found the next morning still strapped in his seat just below the opposite crest of the mountain. The crash occurred approx 20 miles South of China Lake, Ca. near Bravo Range.
