Have Doughnut was the name of a Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) project to evaluate and exploit a MiG-21 "Fishbed-E" that the United States Air Force acquired in 1967 from Israel. This was a multi-service project with Air Force and Navy pilots evaluating the MiG-21, re-designated "YF-110", in a variety of situations. The project's name came from the "doughnut" shaped sight reticle on the F-4 Phantom's canopy used to aim at opposing aircraft. HAVE DOUGHNUT tests were conducted at Area 51.

A similar DIA project occurred a year later in 1968 known as HAVE DRILL/HAVE FERRY TACTICAL EVALUATION , which used a MiG-17 Fresco a Lim-5, a Polish variant of the MiG-17 serial number 1C-07-18, built in Poland in 1956-57. The F-106 Delta Dart flew 13 missions in this program.

The data from both HAVE DOUGHNUT and HAVE DRILL were provided to the then newly formed Top Gun school at NAS Miramar and to the USAF Fighter Weapons School. The results of the program were surprising in that no Navy pilot who flew Navy aircraft in the project defeated the MiG-17 in the first engagement. The MiG-17 was a relatively old design and considered by many US pilots outdated, yet its great maneuverability, especially at low altitudes, showed it could defeat all current US Navy aircraft.
