F-106A 57-2475 of the 539th FIS McGuire AFB NJ from sometime before 1965, because it still wears the buzz numbers on the fuselage. Col (Ret) Mark B Foxwell, F-106 fighter pilot and instructor pilot, reminds us this is a very impressive photo, because the AIR-2A Genie shown is all white, which means it is a real NUKE and not a training rocket. The Six never fired a live Nuclear AIR-2A, but sat Air Defense alert for many years with loaded Nucs during the Cold War. It looks like this jet is either being loaded to pull alert or is being downloaded after coming off alert.
