F-106A 57-0236 of the 318th FIS, McChord AFB, WA on 15 Sep 1983. This was during the transition period from the 318th Sixes to the F-15. I was still at Castle pulling alert duty at this time where the Sixes of the 194th Fresno ANG came in to replace our 318th Sixes until the F-15's took over on 31 Dec 83. 57-0236 went to the 87th FIS in Oct 83 only a few weeks after this photo, so the absence of the tail flash must have been due to its pending transfer. The cover on the nose is a 318th radome cover with 318 FIS on it. [Photo taken by Doug Remington]
