F-106A's 59-0038 and 58-0783 of the 194th FIS Fresno parked on the ramp of the Castle AFB CA Alert Barns, 30 Dec 1983 the day before the final close-out. The 194th was sitting in for the 318th FIS while we transitioned over to the F-15's, which are sitting in the alert barn as this photo is taken. Photo by Patrick McGee.

The 194th came up from Fresno a few months before the F-106 Alert Close-out of the 318th FIS Det 1 at Castle AFB, CA that occurred on 30 Dec 1983. The last of the 318th jets left Castle in prep for the 318th's conversion to F-15's. Our 318th alert crews (me) remained, but we worked with the 194th jets and their backshop mechanics when necessary. On 31 Dec 1983 the alert duties were officially taken over by the 318th FIS's newly acquired F-15's
