Bob Shields - Wednesday 6 June 2012 18:40
I was a Crew Chief along with Jerry Roth and Steve Heerman. Scott Parish worked MA-1, as did Cindy (Williams?) As Wendy said, Jerry spent many hours working on the mural in the Alert Barn, as did many of us. I was shocked to read that it was painted over, that is a sacrilege. That is in the same league as The Hooterville Bar burning down!

I was stationed at Minot when Jerry painted this. He spent many, many late nights up at the alert barn working on it. Unfortunately, once the sixes were deactivated and the squadron switched to F-15's or F-16's (I was gone by then and can't remember), the lovely mural got painted over. Just like that, a piece of history was gone. I'm glad there was a litho made of it though!
