F-106A 57-0241 of the 48th FIS, Langley AFB, VA at Det 2 Homestead AFB, FL in 1970. Major Charles E. Anonsen, squatting on the far left, was commanding officer from 1970-72. This photo is submitted by his son Eric Anonsen. They moved to Homestead from Langley after that Russian pilot defected from Cuba and landed his MIG on the Homestead AFB runway without us detecting him till he was wheels down. Eric and his family left Langley AFB the next week and his dad took command of the Det 2. [Anonsen collection]
