Interceptor Cover. F-106A 59-0054 of the 318th FIS, McChord AFB, WA is an example of a crash that resulted in a "Two-for-One" that made one good one out of two bad ones, on the scene by Sacramento ALC. When Pat first started his "There I Was" series, Wayne Neet submitted the first story about these two aircraft, 59-0054 and 59-0083. After much research, we found Joe Sylvia, who set the record straight on how all this got resolved. There are several stories on this listed in the There I Was... stories page http://www.f-106deltadart.com/thereiwas.php

Aircraft 59-0054 finished its career with the 318th FIS, McChord AFB WA only to be converted to a drone and was shot down on its fifth drone flight by an AIM-120 at Tyndall AFB on 14 Feb 96.

Aircraft 59-0083 also finished its career with the 49th FIS only to be converted to a drone and shot down on its sixth drone flight by a AIM-120 at Tyndall AFB on 18 May 93.
