May 23, 2013 the IRST was deployed on 590086 for the first time since it arrived at AMARC in Sept 1985. The IRST was found to entirely intact; no damage and all connections attached. The only problem encountered was a failure to fully retract; due to internal problems with the actuator. Resolution of the problem is pending. The crew has configured the system to allow manual movement of the IRST for display purposes.
