John WInter - Thursday 3 September 2015 12:48
This F-15A 76-0024 was assigned to 5 FIS at Minot AFB, ND which had 106s prior to this. I was crew chief on F-106B 59-0159 then this F-15. When 5FIS inactivated our F-15s went to Massachusetts ANG. This was on the way to the boneyard at DM and the Jet Fuel Starter for starting the engine shelled out. Only way to start an F-15 so it was released to the museum by AF museum. 76-0024 had a Bear intercept out of our detachment at Loring which there were pictures of this so that is why it is now painted in 5FIS markings.
