F-106A 59-0116 is the co-actor in a LIFE Magazine photo shoot of NASA Mercury astronaut Gordon 'Gordo' Cooper sometime in the 1960's. Notice the ladder laid up against the aircraft instead of an aircraft boarding ladder, the old canopy and the optical bore sight for the AIR-2 Genie in the cockpit. These photos were taken at the far transient ramp (Seaward Side ) at Langley AFB VA near the famous "Mile Long" building. This extendable ladder was part of Transient Alert's equipment then.
