The 73 AD took over the mission of the the 4756 Air Defense Wing (ADW) in June 1960 when the 4756 ADW was deactivated. This continued until 1962 when the 4756 ADW was reactivated, which lasted through 1968 when the 4756 ADW was again reactivated and its mission taken over by ADWC, which had replaced the 73 AD 2 years prior in 1966.
