F-106A of the 87th FIS, KI Sawyer AFB, MI escorts Russian TU-95M Bear sometime between 21 April - 12 May 1978 while deployed to Keflavik Iceland to supplement the host 57th FIS alert force while the 57th transitioned from F-4Cs to F-4Es. The 87th even got themselves a Bear "F" intercept on 28 April 1987, and a few more after that. Gerald Asher made a stencil so the 87th could adorn the Sixes properly.
