F-106A 59-0041 of the 27th Fighter Interceptor Squadron, crashed [in what the local newspaper called a potato field] on takeoff at Loring AFB, Maine on Sept 7, 1965 and burned. Pilot Capt Raymond F. Girard could not eject due to [early] ejection seat problems, but he did survive the crash. It was said that fireman in the Husky rescue vehicle had to break his leg to get him free from the cockpit.
