F-106A of the 49th FIS, Griffis AFB, Rome NY participates in a Project-Ice Cube High-Altitude "Snap-up" Intercept mission. Here it is photo'd at 75000ft by a U2. F-106 pilots wore a full pressure suit (space suit) for these missions. Notice the black sky here, not blue, because of the depleted atmosphere.
