15 Mar 2017 The LAST two El Paso F-106's to be sold, F-106B 57-2509 and 57-2543, went to the Palm Springs Air Museum and Excelsior High School, Victorville, CA. Searching for more details from Fred Bell at the Palm Springs Air Museum and Derek King at Excelsior High School. Pat Perry tracked down the new owners and spoke to the man who funded the donation and transport of 5 truckloads of parts and a J-75 engine to these two CA locations. The aircraft will be used for displays that focus on HS age kids vocational education in aerospace industry skills and pre-military aircraft training. Looking for any help that nearby former F-106'ers could give as the recipients have little experience with the F-106. Your time and skills will be vital to the success of both projects. 12 Dec 2016 The LAST two El Paso F-106's have been sold -- there are no more remaining in El Paso. F-106B 57-2509 and 57-2543 departed El Paso on 14 Dec heading to their new homes at the Palm Springs Air Museum and Excelsior High School in the Los Angeles area. April 2000 6 of the 7 last un-flyable QF-106s departed Tyndall AFB, FL, on several flatbed 18 wheelers bound for El Paso, TX having been privately purchased by David Tokoph at Westernair Inc. They were planned for restoration with one possibly put back to flyable status, even though they all were already de-milled. Unfortunately David passed away so the plans for these jets changed. Four F-106B's 57-2509, 57-2517, 57-2543, 57-2545. Two F-106A's 58-0786, 59-0047. Thanks to Dick Lewis, CMSgt, USAF (Ret) for taking some of the photos below. Only airframe with date plate is 57-2509. Others were evidently removed at Tyndall AFB. All control stick grips missing. 3 Ejection seats included. Cockpits had some instruments still in them. No canopy actuators as they were part of the ejection system which were removed. New longerons etc. manufactured to attach tails as it came from factory. Enough new parts for 2 complete aircraft. One J75-P-19 Engine minus tail pipe, nozzle-afterburner diffuser is on the engine. Tail pipe shroud on-hand. No records, but engine is from an F-106.
REASON FOR TERMINATION FROM DRONE PROGRAM:

• 57-2509: Wire bundle fire in lower electronics bay-no structural damage from fire
• 57-2543: Nose gear damage
• 57-2545: Cracked engine inlet duct
• 58-0786: Cracked wing spar
• 59-0047: Cracked wing spar
