Fall 1958 - 42nd F-106 produced by Convair at San Diego CA
27 Oct 58 - Crashed (At AF Flight Test Center, Edwards AFB CA, Convair aircraft) Pilot Capt. Edward C. Jones ejected and survived. Capt Jones encountered flight control problems during the USAF acceptance flight after the aircraft came out of the Palmdale plant. He safely ejected and the aircraft crashed 7 miles north of Edwards, AFB about a 1/4 mile from the nearest house in North Edwards AFB in the middle of a dirt road. The ejection seat had fallen through the roof of a home on Vista Del Oro Street.
