Photo taken byGary Chaney SMSgt (Ret) of the 48th FIS (MA-1) during his stay on Osan as a 48th FIS MA-1 "Weenie" (his words) while working on 318th FIS aircraft. The 48th FIS personnel relieved the 318th FIS of thier Korea duties sometime between Nov- Dec 1968. The 48th FIS served a 180 day tour plus an extension, and were relieved in June 1969 by the 94th FIS. The aircraft remaining back at the 48th FIS home in 1968 flew to the 318th at McChord AFB while the 48th members were deployed. The 48th FIS pilots flew the 318th jets back home to McChord when they departed Korea and picked up their own 48th jets and returned to Langley in June 1969. [Gary Chaney collection]
