I have had times in my life where I (in the words of Maxwell Smart) missed it by that much. The discussion earlier about the Sixgun prompted me to look at some pictures from 2012.
At Pacific Coast Air Museum we had a one time event called Night at the Museum. We had an open cockpit night, with music and some of our planes had museum members that flew them. Each gave a brief talk about the plane. I had only been with the Museum about a year and was just starting to rekindle an old love affair with the Six.
Had I known who my Six's representative was in the past, I would have spent a lot more time with him. He had a flying school just across the fence called Dragonfly Aviation. He had passed away not too long after this event. I had not realized who Bob was until I pulled the AMI out of 590086 and taped to it's side was a business card stating "Bob Archibald father of the Six Gun".
I really missed the opportunity to engage with Bob Archibald; project lead for the Six gun project. Unfortunately I was not a member when Col Joe Rogers was still alive and a member of PCAM. Two of the F-106 Greats; and I missed them both. :-(
Bob Archibald is the one with the green flightsuit and handlebar mustache. The man in the orange flightsuit is our former Director Col Dave Pinsky. In the third photo Bob is up at the F-106 cockpit engaging a guest. The man at the left with the mike is our resident F-4 Driver C.J.Stephens.
