F-106A 56-0461 painted in 87th FIS colors as 57-0231 Toro 1 the commander’s aircraft. Previously of the 5th FIS, then 'assignment' AMARC [AMARG] boneyard, then acquired by the Sawyer Museum in 2005, restored and unveiled on 9 Sep 2006. Notice the original airframe tail number of 56-0461 painted on the fuselage under the elevon. Taken by John Dvorachek, 87th FIS Crew Chief (ret). [John Dvorachek collection]

John Dvorachek writes: 56-0461 "Spittin Kitten" painted as 57-0231 "Red Bull". The actual 57-0231 crashed in the U.P. of Michigan, pilot Stephen Losacker (sp) ejected safely. Note the "alligator" snout on this paint job. Many Red Bull noses varied in "bulk", some fat, some "snouty", depended on the paint fumes effect on paint dude. Yes, it is a "side view" of a Bull. Many of us, ok, me, had to pass the ink blot test at the base hospital to see the unique 87th FIS Red Bull tail flash.
