Here is a picture of our Forum Member, Bruce Gookin, shooting fuel into his bird F-106A 57-2486. The Valley Bomber (local Castle AFB Newspaper) ran this article Aug 11, 1967 after the 456th FIS flew 106 sorties in 6 hours and 15 minutes using 16 operational aircraft.

The Valley Bomber (a SAC publication) wrote that CO Lt Col John Charles Marcotte led a flight of four "Delta Daggers" across the field to wind up the flying day. We forgave them for not saying "Delta Darts" since we were the "Protectors of SAC".

This was a Hell of a day for all of us. Crew Chiefs and MA-1 were fast on their feet and the rest of us shops guys pitched in to help where needed. Most every bird came back code 1 and we were 100% Operational Ready before the end of the day. Pat Perry
